yin + yang = immortality

i got a copy of JLA Earth 2 by Grant Morrison.

all i've got to say is "Woah!"

in more than 50 pages or so, Morrison compresses a million-and-one ideas in one graphic novel. but once you read, the ideas expand in your head!

the JLA team goes to a parallel universe completely different from them and where the norm is evil, not good. so everyone has a bad-ass equivalent: ultraman is evil superman, owlman is evil batman, superwoman is evil wonder woman. same goes to flash and green lantern. it was very interesting how they got out of that scenario.

how Morrison twisted and turned concepts for the parallel evil JLA characters is a wonder. each evil equivalent of JLA character is given interesting characterizations, plus how the relationships between them turned out as well!

it was also interesting how Morrison's Evil Superman, known as Ultraman, has very similar concepts to Mark Millar's Red Son. "Big Brother is watching you" concept, Brainiac as slave/assistant to Superman, plus the cliffhanger near the end also. It is also to be noted that Grant always mentions that he gave Millar the best ending for a Superman story in Red Son.

can't wait for All-Star Superman!

PS

Big Brother concept is threshed out in a reality tv series and now, RP has a franchise. the no-holds-barred who-will-have-sex-with-whom inquiry will make viewers glued to their tellies. (i've seen screen caps for the UK Big Brother, and dang, 'everything' is shown. here in RP franchise, you can view those "tender" moments in pay-per-view.)

the yin and yang concept is what immediately came to my mind after reading JLA Earth 2. not sure if it's the correct framework. will ponder more on that concept next time.
